Mega Hit Films Do Well in Hard Times

Hollywood always does well in hard times as people seek escapism from hard times. Good times or bad Hollywood is a great business to invest in, especially when other investments are going nowhere! 2008 was the year of the economic meltdown but not for Hollywood. In fact hard times have always proven great for Hollywood.

Ticket sales in 2008 reached $9.5 billion just a hair short of 2007's record year of $9.6 billion.More now than ever before we all need an escape from reality and Hollywood is a great escape for a ten dollar ticket. Movies typically do well in tough times and quite a few of the movies that did well in 2008 were uplifting which is why we here at Megahit Films Inc. are focusing on a raising money for films that give escapism a boost in 2009 because we expect more of the same in the world economies in 2009.

We enjoyed total escapism in the movie Dark Knight with Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger was born April 4, 1979 and died January 22 2008. Heath was an Australian television and film actor. After performing roles in Australian television and film during the 1990s he moved to the United States in 1998 and later achieved great success as an actor.

He died at only 28 years old and he will be sadly missed. We had been in private talks with him about his dream of becoming a director and we had a project that would have been a great kick start for his directing career but sadly this will not happen now. Dark Knight was the biggest megahit of the year, earning nearly $532 million and it was the second-highest-grossing movie of all time.

Superheroes certainly came to the rescue at the cinema in 2008. Comic-book adaptations raked in more than $1.2 billion this year. The top ten yearly box office megahits were The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Hancock, Wall, Kung Fu Panda, Twilight, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Quantum of Solace, and Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!

For most being invested in the stock market in 2008 has been painful. We here at Megahit Films Inc. think that high end investors might want to bet on Hollywood this year and take a look at the fun and exciting projects we have slated for 2009!

  1. “The Great Depression verified that movies are recession proof.” Very true. During every economic crisis thus far, the movie industry has persevered, and most studios have even profited. When studios or distribution companies go down, it seems that the reason is that they’re financing disastrously unprofitable movies. At $10 for tickets Movies are still the least expensive form of entertainment
